Trouble at Sothis Mining
03 Mar 2016AVON NOVA
We have been sent to Sothis Mining which is a civilian outpost that is under the control of the corporation. At all times a Sirius Navy i-Cutter is located at the station to protect Sirius Mining operations but 2 days ago that ship had exploded on launch from the station and we were being sent to replace it and we also had orders to find out what had happened. As we approached the station the station flight operations controller Amanda Ripley gave permission for us to land. Ashley and I had been instructed by Vice President Bowman that Sothis Mining is a potential flash-point and that we must proceed with caution. On the station representatives from the systems competing factions were always looking for an opportunity to take control of the station.
The relationship between Sirius Corp and Federation Unite within the Sothis system is mutually beneficial but often fractious. Sirius Navy has been successful in maintaining a balance of power and keeping an uneasy peace but other factions within the system have tried to disrupt that balance of power.
On landing the Python would be maintained on immediate stand-bye in case it was needed for action. Ashley instructed Ripley that no one was to enter the hanger and that anyone attempting to get close to the ship would be met with lethal force - no questions asked. We would be sleeping on the ship and one of us would remain with the ship at all times on security detail to ensure the Python didn't meet the same fate as the i-Cutter.
So I powered down the engines and settled in for what I expected would be a long an uncomfortable stay at Sothis Mining.
