Though I suffered a dreadful night it is amazing how much a well stocked larder can refresh one's spirits. This really is a marvelous craft. Thus fortified I set to explore the systems around Sothis. Alas as I was traversing the vast distance to the nearest landable planet I discovered a signal source that ultimately turned out to belong to one of my students. His craft and personal belongings were scattered across a swathe of space and no signs of life were present. I was able to salvage many of his personal belongings but his private data beacon was scrambled. Tomorrow I shall set about decoding it. Hopefully it will contain some clue to his identity and the mystery of his untimely death.
In the mean time I have a fine Lavian brandy waiting for me in my state room.
