CMDRs Log 343033 (Starting a career in PvP)

The system was quiet as I docked the Salva Mea at Bowen City. Being in hostile territory had a way of making me edgy. I wasn’t too worried, I had recently received my Combat Master recommendation from the Pilots Federation and my Python was armed to the teeth. The system was under the control of Li Yong-Rui, and even though there were no open hostilities at present, I still found myself outside of Empire controlled space. My directive was clear - the ship I came for was here. I stared in wonderment at all the outfitting modules I could have dreamed of… everything I needed! I brimmed with anticipation and as I transferred the credits, I had fleeting thoughts of battle, fire and brilliant white light in the black. The proprietor smiled at the thought of his new riches, but I had forgotten him… I was staring at my new beast, a fully outfitted A-Rated Vulture. I’d have to name her, soon.
The work was not done, not for a while yet. I would need to make many modifications in order to have her ready for combat. Luckily, I had come to know a few of the engineers I would need. As I boarded her for the first time, excitement took hold…‘Steady CMDR, soon enough!’
The trip to Deciat was pleasant, and a necessary first stop. The modules I had her installed with put too much strain on her power plant, and I was piloting with various systems completely powered down. Felicity was helpful as always, I had provided her with the necessary materials to work on both power plant and drives. To my dismay I realized that I was missing a single material for grade 3 work, but decided that it’d have to wait. I made a note of returning with the materials and made peace with the dirty drive upgrades I could manage. Launching off the landing pad I could already feel the power increasing in my new craft and I smiled as I locked in my route and headed off to my next location.
I would need to be on alert… I was entering Federation space, my sworn enemy. Although my reason for obtaining her was indeed to engage and rid the galaxy of those despised Fed CMDRs, I was not entirely certain how she would perform in her current state. I decided that I would err on the side of caution. This however was not to be…I made my final jump to Wolf 397.
As soon as I dialed in the location of Trophy Camp, my radar picked up a CMDR in its general location. Why was he scanning me?! I immediately reciprocated. He was flying a Cobra, Dangerous and it seemed he was faction less. I stayed wary but relaxed as I thought that he probably had and appointment with ‘The Blaster’, as I had. The surprise I felt when my ship churned under the pressure of being interdicted was replaced by anger, and wonder… This was her purpose, what I had intended her for…but so soon? Without any more thought, I readied my fire group and submitted.
I steadied my ship and opened a COMMs channel – ‘?’ was the question I posed the CMDR. I didn’t expect the answer in the slightest and was greeted by a MISSILE blasting past my canopy. My first thoughts were of flight, she’s not ready and I knew my escape location was locked in advance. Those thoughts quickly passed as I steeled myself and turned to face my attacker while deploying my as yet unfired fragmentation cannons. The nerve I thought as I increased forward throttle and prepared to engage. Bearing down on each other I noticed he was without shields… damn hull tank, missile boat, I didn’t care! The adrenalin kicked in, I made my choice and set my throttle to maximum. Why wasn’t he turning, why wasn’t I turning? I decided fuck it and in that final second I engaged boost and emptied my magazines as I RAMMED into the Cobra! The impact was deafening inside the cockpit as I reeled and struggled to maintain control. My shields had held! They had held well, I’d be able to take another hit I thought. I glanced over at the targeting system and noticed he was down to 89% hull. Serves you right! I turned and made ready for yet another impact. The second hit took down my shields; they were rendered inoperable as my hull was exposed. I wasn’t sure as to how she would take direct missile fire, so I decided that it was time to move on, for now. I emptied another clip into his ship while storing his information on my ships computer and made the jump out. We’d meet again…CMDR.
