The Frozen Canvas

On our current voyage we have witnessed many worlds, diverse and interesting,  other than the familiarity of another earth type planet, the beauty and mystery of the water world also holds our intrigue.

After my morning shift in the belt was over I decided to head out and source some Tungsten, the rare ingredient among common ones to allow synthesis of sub subsurface displacement missiles.  Once again I scanned many planets and moons and eventually my scanners found 2% on the surface of a tiny moon, with only one geological site detected I needed to make sure I filled up my material hold with plenty of the rare material.

On my travels back to the SFS Expanse I stumbled on a water world, PRO EURL UX-T D3-31 C3 undiscovered. With a giant polar ice region this large majestic planet may have harboured numerous life forms, many I imagine not that different from the likes of the Whales, Orca's and sea lions of earth or the Gamboons, Freydors and Lintel moffats of Korwei 1, the system and planet of my younger years.

I put on my EVA suit and ventured out of the rear escape door, I needed to take in the view and imagine breathing in the cold bitter air from the tundra below. My sensors unfortunately didn't detect life or carbon life anyway, a frozen wasteland drifting on a planet sized ocean, but still an amazing sight, with it resting in the Goldilocks zone of its parent star,  maybe life will one day form on this frigid blank canvas, a future masterpiece just waiting to be painted.
