Entry #002 - The first 2500

Commander's log, March 7'th, 3303.

We travelled about 500 LY before deciding to call it for the day. Both Napoleon and I had been hard strung to finish the pre-flight preparations and with so many LY to go, we opted for the bottle of red on display in the lounge on the upper deck.

Today we're setting our sights for Hillary Depot, some 2000 LY out from here. We'll scan as much as we can on this leg, but so far we're not seeing anything out of the ordinary. Didn't expect to either.

Yesterday, just before we called it, I accidentally fired off one of our heat sinks, while scooping. Caught a lot of jest from Napoleon on that one - and deserved. Rookie mistake.

For now it's onwards into the black.

CMDR Zinnsei out.

Commander's log, supplemental.

We finally made it to Hillary, at 20:17 UST. Along the way we encountered a few undiscovered systems and took our time cataloging every nook and cranny of them. A few times I took the GU-97 out for a closer look at points of interest, including a ring system near a brown dwarf.

Hillary Depot seems inviting and hospitable enough. A bit larger than I had imagined though and I actually did a double take when the ATC came in over the comms. Surprising how fast I've gotten used to the quiet out here. Napoleon seems pleased that we've come this far. He said something about looking up an old friend, before he took off down the ramp. I've given the staff the night off and shoreleave until tomorrow around noon. I'm thinking of taking the SRV out for a spin when the sun comes up - maybe climb that mountain I saw on the way in. We'll see.

The next leg of our journey will take us to Amundsen Terminal before we plan to break off from the highway and pursue our original target, although I did hear talk of another system teeming with Neutrons. Clookie, or something like that. I think I'll ask some questions tomorrow, see what comes up.

CMDR Zinnsei, signing off.
