Entry #008 - A mad scramble across the galaxy

Commander's log, 16 MAR 3303We made it! Late last night, at 23:00 ship's time, we made berth at Jaques Station. As it turned out, the neutron highway stretched all the way to Colonia, albeit with some detours to stay in the fast lane. We made 9000 LY in a single day, which is completely unheard of! Now I am left with a feeling of quiet disappointment because we could have stayed in the neutron fields for a bit longer, but I stand by my decision of coming here as fast as possible. Now, at least, the fine has been cleared, no more mistakes and wrongdoings to put in order. We're free to go exploring at our own pace again.
The crew has been given some well earned shore leave, which was very much appreciated as far as the whooping went. Personally I've spent the night in a rented room aboard Jaques Station. Not that my own quarters are less than living up to standards, but I wanted a change of scenery. I wouldn't call it a breath of fresh air as such, but we come very close indeed.
Napoleon has requested some time to himself while we're here and I see no reason not to oblige him. He's earned it every bit as much as the rest of the crew. While we all go about our separate business, I've taken to renting an Adder and have spent the morning fitting it for some solo trips around the neighbouring systems. I've slapped on a mining laser and a limpet controller for gathering ore. The Adder reminds me of the old days, before I signed up with the Navy. I ran small time cargo runs in an Adder much like this one. It was my first ship, bought and payed for by myself. I tried my hand at mining, but I never got the hang of it and decided to stick with trading. Now I have that itch to scratch and what better time than now, with money in my pocket and time to kill while the Zenith is being repaired and maintained by skilled mechanics?
This will be a nice change of pace.
For now I will leave this ship and this log behind me and go play with some rocks. I will return in a short while, but after this mad scramble across the galaxy, I feel like this ship could do without me for a short while.
Until then.
CMDR Zinnsei, signing off.
