Commander's Log, 29 APR, 3303
I am not well. That much is obvious. I have arrived at the medical facility on [REDACTED] and after just a few days I can tell that the doctors think there's something wrong. They keep smiling, of course, but I can tell that they think I'm not right. I've told them about Napoleon and what happened to him - and the rest of the crew of course. I've told them of what happened on the way back from Eagle's Landing and how [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]. The fact that this happened removes any doubt in my mind. He is still [REDACTED] and even though I have no idea as to how I am fully convinced. Napoleon [REDACTED]! I know the doctors think I'm crazy. Let them. They weren't there. They didn't see what I saw or what [REDACTED] saw. And I could tell from the look on his face that [REDACTED]. We need to go back!

Cmdr. Zinnsei, signing off.

Commander's Log, 30 APR, 3303

How can they not see?! Why do they insist that I am wrong? If they had been there, they would not be calling me all these things. Felicity would have believed me. She believes in these things and she knows what's out there. I can't believe I didn't just cut and run when the order to report for duty came. We could have gone back to Colonia. We could have disappeared and then we could have [REDACTED]. SAG A* is the key!

Commander's Log, 04 MAY, 3303

They tell me that it's [REDACTED]. I thought so too once. They tell me that dead people are dead and that they can't [REDACTED]. I would agree. I would agree on any other occasion, but this is not any other occasion. Is it?

Commander's Log, 14 MAY, 3303
I think they may be right. It can't be that I saw those things. No one was standing by my bed when we passed the Great Annihilator and no one has visited my quarters at night. Have they? I am so confused, and the constant tests and questions from the doctors - they confuse me. The treatment is rough and I find it hard to focus.

Maybe they're right when they say that [REDACTED]. I just don't know anymore.

I just don't know.

Cmdr. Zinnsei, signing off.

FROM THE IMPERIAL OFFICE OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE, CAPITOL, ACHENAR, 30 MAY, 10:00 HOURS, 3303

The Council hereby decrees that COMMANDER ZINNSEI, Navy ID 09044035, is authorized to participate in [REDACTED], codename OPERATION JANUS, with the intent of coordinating a unified first response unit in the event of a Thargoid invasion force. Executive Officer of the Zemt Quinta Essentia Lenard Bradshaw is to take command of the Imperial Cutter [REDACTED] and at the earliest possible convenience report to Fleet Commander [REDACTED] in the [REDACTED] system to participate in naval maneuvers.

Commander's Log, 25 JUN, 3303.

I've been aboard the [REDACTED] for about a month now and since coming aboard, there has been some - shall we say - tension between me and the crew. I don't think many of them understand the reason for my being here. Maybe that's because there hasn't been much action happening. A few encounters have been trickling in from other navy vessels and commanders, but so far nothing has happened here.

The really strange thing is that I was more or less ready to believe that the doctors wouldn't let me return to active duty after what happened on my expedition to the core. At first, I thought I was okay, but the more tests they ran, the more I was convinced I would never command a starship again. I guess somebody up high pulled some strings, but then again it could also be why I am stationed on a Federation warship in the [REDACTED] system, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, chasing shadows and hearsay. I have yet to fully understand what I'm doing aboard this vessel, but the captain seems to be waiting for something. He knows why I'm here, but he hasn't been given permission to speak to me about it yet. I will wait and bide my time, but I must say I miss my friends and colleagues. Especially Lenard. He came aboard at Colonia, back then, and as far as I can tell, he's been given a command. That's really fast, but he is a good guy. Very talented. I'm sure he'll do the Navy proud.

When I think back on the weeks at the facility, it now seems so strange to me that I was so convinced that [REDACTED]. It seems so unreal now. I am glad to be back on the active duty roster again and to be of service to the Empire - even though I am currently stationed on a Federation vessel. I think everything will be alright.

Cmdr. Zinnsei, signing off.

FROM THE IMPERIAL OFFICE OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE, CAPITOL, ACHENAR, 26 JUN, 20:45, 3303

Confirmation has been received. The Zemt Quinta Essentia has been lost in the [REDACTED] system. No casualties reported but the vessel is not in a recoverable state. Any evidence of the malfunction that caused the evacuation and subsequent destruction of the Zemt Quinta Essentia is unfortunately lost along with the vessel itself.

The Council acknowledges the report. No further investigation will be implemented.
