The Great Orion Odyssey - Day 5 (14/11/3301) - The End
15 Nov 2015Jim Beaumont
So today was the run in to Betelgeuse and then a choice to be made. So I fired up the nav-comp, and continued with my meandering progress to the target, picking off systems to investigate. My method was clearly working, finding numerous Water worlds in the process. I finally hit an area about 400 LY from Betelgeuse where the systems had been visited before, making for much quicker progress.Just before reaching Betelgeuse, I turned on the Galnet receiver which I had turned off 4 days ago to conserve power. It sprang in to life with updates on the last few days events. It raised my eyes. A call for mining operatives to deliver Osmium to HIP 8396.
Spun up the nav-comp, the Vasco Da Gama II (Python) is at EZ Aquarii. Plot route ............ 18 Jumps. Sounds good.
I checked my charts,
1 Ammonia planet
3 Earth-like planets
10 Water worlds
A bucket load of Metallic and Terraformables, all of those newly discovered.
5 Neutron stars and 1 Black Hole visited.
I checked my modules, some starting to need a little bit of servicing.
I tapped the dash top and gently said 'You've been a gem as always my lovely Asp, but it's time to go home and give you some rest'
I punched the jump and away we go.
On reaching EZ Aquarii I sold my Exploration data, 10,948,848 cr. My Exploration rank, well it put a full 85% into my Pathfinder rank.
Not bad for 5 days and no further than 2500Ly from home.
