Back to Black

Merc met me in the bar, and I explained what had happened the other day. He said he'd keep his ears to wall, to see what he could learn. We are making something of a duo now. What with our CZ work, mining operation and all that. I do feel we are getting a little too involved in things that individually we would stay clear of, but as we seem to be working more and more together, and now both have something that we can call 'home', it almost feels inevitable we get involved. Mercs going to stick around in system, hanging in the bars at both the station and outpost picking up missions. He'll keep me info'd via message if anything major should arise while I'm out for the 3 days.I collected my new Asp from the shipyard, it made sense to buy a new one instead of refitting the old one yet again. I had to make a trip to another outfitters to pick up the right sized fuel scoop and thruster units as the those weren't available here. Home is still in its infancy. A systems check before jumping away gave me the good to go, and so it was off again into the black.
Surprisingly, only 300Ly had passed and I hit upon new systems. On the map, but virgin territories to the human eye. The only issue was that Double was after 1000Ly away. So I kept to the bargain. I scanned all in the systems I jumped to, but I made the quickest route to the 1000Ly. It was then that I began stopping at all the nearest stars to see what they had to hide.
The system map computer kept throwing up new system after new system. Money, money, money. Among all the Stars and Metal Based planets and Gas Giants, I managed to discover 2 new Water Worlds. Money, money, money. Oddly enough, after 700Ly of not seeing a name assigned to the systems, suddenly I hit upon one where an intrepid had been before. That gave me another 2 Water Worlds. But no sooner did the name appear that it disappeared. Back to the virgins.
Day 1 finally finished after 9 hours of travelling and checking, and suitably ended by floating in orbit around a brand new Earth Like world, those beautiful blue oceans and lush green lands. Analysis even revealed that it's atmosphere was human-breathable. No better way to finish. Home from home.
I secretly think that we all, every one of us Cmdrs dashing about the galaxy, crave for that blue/green home of our ancestors to be ours no matter where we herald from. There's just something about that blue/green hue.
