Hit the ground running ... and yet another move

18 Jan 2016Jim Beaumont
So I arrived at the outpost safely, the new ruling faction of the Communist WP had already got some security ships in space making life a little safer. As I have already said, I immediately found the Universal Cartography office and sold the data. I found my new living quaters, dumped my gear and made for the contracts office. This is something the Commies have set up since taking over, a place where taskings can be found instead of some dodgy board with offers on it. There wasn't much on offer, mainly from the other factions wanting bits and bobs taking here and there. So I gave those a miss, I don't want to be supporting others now, but firming up the Com WP control is my aim.
So I took this as an opportunity to go do the Hauler taxi and grab the Cabral, which I did and parked that up with the rest of the fleet. Returning back once again in the Henrique, I did a few small hauling jobs for the WP. Again this work ran dry quickly, so it was trading time. I took back to the fleet home 100t of Palladium, and returned in the Cabral with 20t of Personal Weapons and 240t of Power Generators. Back to the fleet station with 25t of Palladium and 235t of Gold, and did this 5 or 6 times. A little cash for me, and plenty of goods the Com WP were needing. Then a interesting job offer turned up from them. But it had a complication. Authority vessels. And where my fleet was housed.
It was basically asking me to remove some authority vessels, 4 of them from the system where my fleet was parked, the very same system I had plans for helping the Com WP to expand into. And it now looks like they have had very same idea without me actually saying anything.
I spoke with Merc, and confirmed where he was housed up, and it was only 11Ly away, and only 8 Ly from the system in question. So another round of Hauler taxi's was required before I could start. Once the move was made, I got into the Almeida (FAS) and made the jump across, to remove the 4 security vessels needed. It might be the first step down a slippery path, who knows. And it's not really the game I would have liked to play. But needs must, and to destabilise the place in preperation for the expansion wouldn't harm any. Obviously this would cause me to have to avoid the place in the future for a while, my name becoming a Wanted there for now but that's not an issue. The 4 were duly removed and my name given good credence with the Com WP.

The next day showed that the influence on life by the WP was increasing, and I took to a little BH of the space in system, taking 7 bounties. A little bit more of a helping hand. I then took out a courier job into the bubble, and did a few tasks down there for the Feds, which eventually got me promtoed with them too, now Lieutenant. I then returned with a load of Coffee and Basic Medicines. The rest of the day was filled with more hauling from the outpost back to the fleet station. Again, Palladium and Gold one way, Power Generators and Personal Weapons or some other needy good. I went and did some mining in the rings of the pristine metallic that me and Merc had identified, bringing back the Painite as that was on demand, then selling the rest of the Palladium and Platinum, Gold and Osmium back at the station. Always a good money earner is a bit of mining.

Just as I was tempted to call it a day and head to bed, a task came in for about 400k Cr, needing some 'less than clean' product shifting from the outpost. It would carry some high influnce in the system if this were to be delivered. Too good an opportunity to be missed. And it was only 2 hops away. The surprise was it was to a Federation organisation at the other end. So my rep with the Feds took a nice leap forward too when I delivered the goods. Now it was time for bed. Back to the outpost and secure the ship for the night.

Life has got off to a good start here. I hope things keep going this well in the weeks to come.
