Commander's log: Day three

29 Apr 2017EpicH29
another 2000 light years traveled, another 2000 icy planets. No interesting bodies, save for one Earth-like and an ammonia world. For a while now, I've been considering turning back. With the recent news of the elusive Salomé's death, I decided that I would turn around to witness the events unfolding around her first-hand, and support her cause. However i noticed that I was just too far out to care. There was no point in turning around once I was into the swing of things, right? Just keep looking into the black. But as I begin to cross into the second galactic arm, I start to question my sanity. Seeing the same thing for thousands of light years will do that to you. I plan on ignoring these urges to turn around. I'm a hardened explorer - real explorers don't turn back, space madness or not. I keep telling myself that I will see civilization before I know it - the lagoon nebula and Attenborough's watch are only a thousand light years off now. I'll be able to rest and rehabilitate there before I continue my journey into the unknown.

But for now, I must keep looking into the black.
