Commander's log: Day seven

05 May 2017EpicH29
Exactly a week in the black, with only minuscule human interaction at the planetside docks and asteroid bases. It amazes me how far I've managed to travel in this time, considering that it takes people several months to reach my destination: Colonia, which I'm approximately 7000 light years away from. After docking at Gagarin gate in the Gru Hypue AA-A H69 nebula only an hour ago, I realize that the past 2000 light years traveled from the previously nebula was uneventful, however I managed to capture some marvelous screenshots, and get my name associated with 99% of the systems I passed. I tackled the space madness with the wonders of Sidewinder Radio, and entertainment I provided for myself. As I set eyes on Colonia, I wonder whether I'll discover anything worth telling stories of back in Cubeo's bars. Yes, there's all of the high metal content worlds, water world, and that single Earth-like 9000 light years back, however I think on a larger scale. Never mind that I haven't found my own black hole, or my own neutron star to add to the logbook, what about the Thargoids? Imagine finding a nest, or engaging contact with them! But alas, it's unlikely, due to the immense size of our galaxy. For now, i'll share my photographs and stories of the trip so far at the bars at Gagarian Gate, and use the local services to my advantage before I set off on another daunting and likely uneventful 4000 light year stretch to Polo Harbor alone, with only the stars to guide me. I now reach for a cigar, and look at the wonderful red clouds enclose me. A few fellow explorers and the locals ask me the same question: Why did you embark on this journey? As I sit at the large windows of the bar, watching a Beluga land after it's elongated journey, I keep saying to them the same thing - I don't really know. I guess that's true. I don't exactly know why I set out on this pilgrimage to Colonia, and the heart of the galaxy. All I know is that I was 'bitten by the exploration bug' once again, and that I instantly thought of heading to the core, like all other explorers at some point. The others point out that I've been travelling for a long time, and that I should stop for a while. I suppose that this statement is true - I've still got a long trip ahead.

After all, I wouldn't want to risk losing my mind to the boredom.
