EX A Log, Entry 03: Halfway through Emptiness

It has been a couple months since I started this journey. I still haven't even reached my first main goal yet: Jaques' station near the galactic core. Some interesting sights, but otherwise not much has happened. At least the ship works better than my last one! The Imperial Cutter, when properly upgraded, makes a fine explorator. It's a bit more unweildy than my old Anaconda, though. It would be nice if there were some sort of heavy explorer ship a private explorer could buy, but apparently it's either the Anaconda, lighter ships, or a taking another ship and put into the shipyard for intensive reworks.
Well, at least my Cutter has lots of space! On my Anaconda I preferred doing my daily calisthenics on the observation deck, here I can just use the entire ship! The main causeway alone is a nice spot for running.
One thing I've noticed while living in space for so long: Even with automation, keeping a ship the size of the Imperial Cutter clean on your own is a legendary effort. I swear with eating, sleeping and keeping fit there's barely any time left in the day for actually piloting my ship!
Now that's something my old Asp didn't need: A whole cleaning crew. My Anaconda was a bit old and decrepit and keeping it clean wasn't foremost on my mind. But you know what happened then, so I guess I should have thought about that.
Sometime next year I'll be back in the bubble, if nothing happens to me on my way. I hope we will have some kind of large explorer on the market by then, that would be nice. I see all those news on GalNet talking about aliens and new types of FTL. Maybe this will result in something like that?
Anyway, my old Asp isn't really good for those long-range missions, at least if you want to spread your legs a bit. I could see myself tinkering around with another Anaconda, though. Higher jump range is always nice.
Though I'm telling you, I will really carefully turn over every screw on whatever rustheap ends up in my hands.
