Spiral of Madness

Looks like I was celebrating too early. The sea of brown dwarfs suddenly cut off and now only the few other stars remain. I'm still getting closer to the Outer Arm, but the Outer Arm itself is so thin it's hard to travel further.Luckily I've learned to travel in short hops to prevent my my computer from bugging out. There are a lot of systems unreachable now, even by my Asp.
The farther you try to go, the higher the chance dozens of the stars you try to make a route to are all unreachable. You have to learn to follow the lines plotted by your ship's computer to avoid the dead ends.
And sometimes you just have to travel in weird spirals to get closer to the galactic edge: Quite often I find stars tantalizing close, but just out of reach. Then I have to somehow plot around them and find another route. So what would be a single jump with 38 ly range turns into 13 jumps forming a spiral around that single star. This makes me wish we could fine-tune our jump drives for more range. Hell, I even tried draining my fuel tank on purpose to get more range but since the Painful Memories already has a half-sized fuel tank there's not much I can do without getting suicidal.
Maye when I get back they've finally made another long-range ship like the Asp? Even a stripped Anaconda would have trouble out here, so a real long-range ship would be nice.
Edit:
My ship computer turned weird by the end of this days journey and put the systems from this strange virtual fighting championship I'm playing sometimes into my flight log. When I get back home I should take some time to thoroughly examine this piece of junk.
