A rumored story

22 Mar 2018Michael Rhodes
Resting in the cafe that overlooks pad 5 in Ohm City, my ears perked at the sound of deep conversation down the way.  I overheard something that I had to see for myself.  Leaving my Corvette parked for maintenance (it had earned me my new Master designation for combat in the Pilot's Federation), I took some snacks into my Asp Explorer and headed toward HIP 12099.  I mused that this was the same system where I paid homage to the late J. Jameson and his crashed Cobra.

As I headed toward the determined coordinates on the primary moon, I found the rumors were correct - the INRA facility that helped develop the mycoid virus that almost committed xenocide.  Makes sense it was in the same system where Jameson died.

I took my SRV for a spin, collecting some random materials and taking in the night-view of the installation (backdropped by the ringed gas giant seen through chains of mountains).  Quite a lovely sight...

...until I drove up a ramp near what looked like a pit...

...carnage.

...decayed Thargoid body parts.

I slowly backed away and headed toward my ship.  This is where INRA committed experiments on living Thargoids - extremely torturous (analogous to a kid taking limbs off of a spider one by one) and enough to make me nauseous (they justified it by saying they skirted the red tape because it was an alien species).

Now, I don't know what they are doing with the escape pods that they capture - perhaps the same thing.  But yes, this is war right?  At this point, I don't care who started it.

I don't know if this makes me a sympathizer or not.

Just a bit sick.
