Livingstone point

“a still more glorious dawn awaits, not a sunrise, but a galaxy-rise, a morning filled with four hundred billion suns, the rising of the Milky Way”A quote from Carl Sagan. He was an ancient Earth astronomer and scientist from centuries past.
This was the wonderful sight I was lucky to share with my pal Cmdr Travers today while standing on a small moon at Livingstone Point.
Look up his log entry of this momentous occasion and you’ll find a neat little selfie there.
Travers arrived a couple of hours before me and I eventually made planet fall just a few meters from his ship. The final few jumps to Livingstone point were a hard slog. I needed a good quantity of jumponium to bridge the star systems. I will need to schedule a re-stock of premium jump materials so I should keep a close eye on the system info panel.
We left the confines of our ships for some ‘fresh air’ and ran about in the SRV’s for a short while. In a crazy moment we even swapped SRV’s. I suggested we fly each other’s ships as well but Travers vetoed that idea. Can’t blame him though, there’s a lot invested in these exploration ships and not just credits.
Next leg of this 2 man expedition will take us to the Heart and Soul nebula I believe. Heading back towards the centre now so the star density should increase and I’m expecting plenty to see along the way.
So, I’m writing this in the ready room of FC Cloudbase. Just given the order for a shakedown of all systems before we start towards the inner Orion Spur and I’m also waiting for a full re-fit of the old DBX to complete. I think a new paint job is in order after a few hundred thousand light years of erosion from space dust. The flight cabin has had a full valet including a new pilot seat. I was talked into a new ship kit, total waste of money but you have to have a change once in a while don’t you?
