On the Border

13 Oct 2015Tristan Pacheco
I was born in the Federation, I was raised in the Federation. I've fought in the middle of Imperial space and I've seen the way they look at me with scarcely contained malice. Today though, I experienced something else. Orders from higher-ups to meet Torval's Shield on the frontline between Fed and Imp space brought my squadron to what seemed at first to be a chaotic, backwater system. Flying through the mail slot, the words RISE UP NOW were emblazoned, and I wondered if I'd even be able to exit my ship. But once I met my squadron in the lounge, we discovered that this system (Misisture, by the way) was a diamond formed by the intense pressure of being right in the middle of the two major powers.
Imperial pilots and Federal pilots walked side by side like it was nothing special, and the zero-g bars were staffed by (ugh) Imperial slaves. I saw a Clipper and an FAS not two docks apart and their Commanders were just chatting it up in between. I never would have believed this kind of moderation existed if I hadn't seen it myself. But, it raises an issue. We're here to cause trouble for Torval, so I hope I don't destablize what may be a very...tenuous and fruitful cross-faction relationship.
In other news, I managed to get promoted to Master in the Pilot's Federation before I left Aulin, and already I'm enjoying the benefits. One more step on the path to Elite...
