In case 1 alien race wasn't enough...

05 Mar 2018Tristan Pacheco
As usual, the Federal Navy is late to the swing. A while back, some headlines scrolled across GalNet about some people that did some stuff in the Synuefe sector and found some "ruins" from an allegedly extinct alien race. I thought it was hysteria at the time from the rising threat of the Thargoids, and I was quite busy preparing for clear and present danger myself. As more news filtered in from Ram Tah (who I've actually met on a couple occasions) about what exactly had been found in the area, my interest was piqued, but I never had time to actually look into it. Heresay stated that this "new" alien race was called the Guardians, and they died out in some civil war that may or may not have involved the Thargoids. This is when I realized that this information may have been useful to the military. I spoke to my CO and he told me "he'd look into it". Of course, he never did. Now, here we are several months later with a veritable crisis on our hands and random civilian explorers are cooperating with Ram Tah to rebuild Guardian technology that's more effective against the Thargoids than anything Aegis has so far produced, and retains its effectiveness against our own vessels...

Into my inbox pops my CO.

We had a short conversation that took all of my military bearing not to repeatedly say "I told ya so" during, and now our R&R is being interrupted since experimental weaponry is kind of our MO. There's no way in hell I'm flying the Last Horse to the Synuefe sector, so I'm staying in my Asp Explorer (just got the carpet detailed in my quarters, so this should be exciting) while actually on duty. It's not a naval vessel, so unfortunately I can't drop into a zone and lord over all of the smaller, less matte-black ships screaming "MRRUUUUHH THISISTHENAVY" as per usual. Instead I have to worry about blinding my squadmates with the brilliant sheen of my 24 karat gold plated starship with an experimental frameshift drive. Honestly I'm cool with the trade off. So today marks the last day of my shore leave before its back to dealing with all the things that aliens have done better than we have somehow (seriously, how do we suck so much).

Until next time,
