Waiting lists

Some kind of universal force draws me to things that I must wait for. I found a vendor in Beta Hydri that's willing to upgrade my ship's thrusters for planetary landings (my avionics were already upgraded, to her surprise) but apparently, this unknown artifact situation (just my fucking luck) prevented her from ordering some kind of attachment parts for the new thrusters. The hangar bay for the SRV's is another story. Apparently The Incorruptible's compartment capable of being retrofitted to have one has been modified in the past. The actual frame of the ship has extra spars right in the middle of the compartment, which somehow I've never noticed in my inspections. Those will have to be removed unless I want my SRV's to be of the kebab-variety. Unsurprisingly, this will also take time, but Beta Hydri is a depressingly boring system to visit; nothing but politicians and sprawling farms here to greet me. The wait they said will be anywhere from a week to a month (why the huge gap, I have no idea), and I imagine it'll be closer to the latter. Now, I'm atheist, but still celebrate Christmas, and I have no intention sticking around to listen to the Federal courts blab about the state of the galactic economy or mining prospects in the whatever-sector of space. Bleh! Instead, I'm probably gonna pay someone (hopefully a skilled someone) to take me the short distance from here to Sol. I've always wanted to see snow, but I've never been to a terrestrial planet cold enough to have it. Conveniently, I hear Christmas often gets a lot of snow on Earth, so I'll be heading there ASAP. The problem there will be traffic. Anyone who's ever been to Earth knows that the customs lines can literally be days long, so it might actually be Christmas before I can even leave the terminal. Sigh...oh well. Anything beats staying here in boring-town. In the meantime, I've informed my CO of the situation, and he said there wasn't much going on in the way of Federal military excursions, so I should be good to go.
