See the stars, they said. It will be fun they said. Ha. Ha. Ha. Aren't we just the funniest thing going?
This is the log of one Leon Falkner, promising merchant turned bounty hunter. My story up to now is not very exciting, I'll admit. Flew some missions with a Type-6 around Fed Space to make some creds to send home to Mom and Dad. Sure beats my desk jockey job back in Ho Hsien, but you never do get over the first time someone spaces you.
So far I've lost six or... seven ships now? Hard to count. Mostly pirates, and only one clipping an asteroid field I was mining. Had to bail on Ho Hsien after a little, shall we say, altercation with one of the dock managers. I said his automecs kept scratching my merchandise and the next time they did I'd reprogram them to stack crates in front of his office, really he brought it on himself. Well, the bastard nearly had me grounded permanently. I had to sell that sweet Dolphin and the Type Six just to afford to refit the old Cobra MkIII I had bought on a lark for some more sketchy long hauls though Anarchy space. Now, this ship is all I have. And today it nearly blew up beneath me again.
Found a couple of guys hanging around the hangar earlier looking to do a little run of the nearby ring system, skimming for pirates they could cash in the bounty these "Knights of Karma" have going. It was a pretty standard run, their big laser guns barely got anything before I could even bring it to bear, but then I pounced on the wrong target. A Vulture screamed right at me, it's starboard size smashed through my shields and shattered the canopy on the Foxtail. I managed to get out of there in mostly one piece but the damn Flight Controller in Caprini kept me waiting outside while traffic moved no matter how many times I called in to say that I only had minutes of air left. He let me in only when I threatened to block the docking port with my suffocated corpse and disable my ship's dead-man switch destruct sequence.
Foxtail's looking worse for wear. Going to need a full re-fit of most exterior systems. No time like the present to catch up on the news, and make sure my thoughts get down...
