Birch Log - 17:45 15 August 3304After a few weeks of sitting in the chair jumping, skimming, and surveying, I'm taking a small break to have some "fun" in the Rohini system chasing pirates. Again, I'm really impressed with out settled this system is. And with that level of "civilization," you also get the less savory elements of society, I guess.
In the end, I'm a researcher, not a fighter, so I hope this doesn't end badly, but early this morning I got word that the Pilot's Federation had seen fit to award me with my Novice Combat rank! I hadn't really been looking for it, so it turned out to be a surprise when I got the email (who would be writing me in Rohini??)
I did make the very specific decision - somewhat oddly from what I understand - to fit up the Aaron Price so it could defend itself. It has both lasers and cannons. At one point I should go through things to see what I've sacrificed in terms of jump range in order to get this capability.
So far it's done reasonably OK with the riff-raff. Let's hope that continues as long as I don't get too stupid.
So, yes, everyone, fear my Novice powers...but not too much!
