Hail Canonia!

I made it!

The end was not graceful, but I made it! Basically I nearly came down on my head.

Upon exiting the jump I headed to Canonnia B 2 and its port of Arcanonn's Legacy. I did a normal approach and all was fine. It was only during the glide that I noticed that Canonnia B 2 has a 2G gravitational field, making this the heaviest planet I'd ever attempted to land on.

Worried that I was going to crash into the base, I overflew it coming out of the glide path. The ship did act sluggishly and I found I had to manually keep the bottom thrusters going. I was given Landing Pad 6 to dock at and headed there, experiencing difficulty keeping the ship in the air the whole way.

Finally I found the pad and headed in. Of course, I approached it in exactly the wrong direction. This happens, and when it does, I perform an Immelmann turn to correct the situation. Here, that was nearly fatal. I performed the climb as usual and had just started the roll from the inverted position when I started falling like a rock! I barely restarted the engines in time to climb off the pad and try again.

Like I said, graceful it was not, but, any landing you can walk away from, they say. At least I can now say I have high G experience.

I think I'll take it easy for a couple of days. Obviously Jacques Station is on the list, but this is a whole new community, really, and there will be a lot to get used to.
Do you like it?
