Hard Work Pays

They say it rains when it pours and right now I'd have to agree. It's all good news though!Waking up today without hearing the klaxons heralding another attack by the MoC was a great way to start the day. The war only lasted 4 days but it seemed like a lifetime. I lazily got up. I lazily checked the morning reports. I lazily walked to The Executor sat on the pad in Ochoa Orbital. You get the picture. The stress is off and I'm back to doing what I'm good at - managing my systems. Things were looking good. Kraunaha is still in boom. Chuntabon is still in boom, (There is the slight issue of the Coalition of Asgaru and the Chuntabon Silver Natural Ex declaring a war but they'll have to sort this out themselves. I'm tired of war.) and belief in the KI is already rising. Straw polls in the media show that we were behind the Moc by almost 8% when I took over and now, just 7 days later, we are ahead of the MoC by almost 15%. That equates to nearly 4,500 new supporters for the KI. I knew that setting up trade routes and getting the goods and the money flowing was the way to turning this system around. I couldn't be happier.
I had a talk with Angeline as she's not really needed at the moment and she understood when I gave her some time off. She had worked hard during the conflict and so a break, whilst still getting her cut of course, was welcomed. She couldn't believe it and started babbling about taking a visit out to Sol, something she hadn't had the money or time to do before. I hope she enjoys it. It's a fantastic system and the history is amazing. I still find it weird to think that there was a time when humans only lived on one planet! No wonder they nuked each other to hell!
As for me, I jumped in the ship and set a course to Chuntabon. I arrived there and scanned the reports. There has been more traffic over night than normal, something to keep an eye on, but nothing to concern me yet and so I set out to speak to some business leaders to see how I could help them get some trade up and out. It turned out that it was a good day for this and between Kraunaha, Chuntabon and Jangman I set up deals for survival equipment, domestic appliances, semi-conducters, super conductors and polymers. Over 400t in total. What a day.
And then it got better. As I pulled into Ochoa just after 1330hrs, I noticed a man in full Federal Navy uniform stood to attention at the side entrance to one of the docking tower buildings. As I stepped out of the shadow of The Executor he approached me, stopped dead, banged out a text book salute, handed me an envelope and marched off into the building he had been stood outside of. No words, explanation or anything. I knew what this meant.
I went through the standard procedure controls and checks and headed for my quarters. I walked in the door and opened the envelope, kicking off my boots and hanging my jacket up all at the same time. It was Federation Navy headed paper, something you only see in real official situations nowadays, and it was informing me that due to the efforts in the war and by pushing the Federation into the once independent system of Chuntabon, I was officially promoted to Ensign of the Federal Army. There was a data card to download a permit to The Executor that would grant me access to Ross 128 and I was now authorised to fly a Federal Gunship. What a day this was turning out to be!
In light of this news. I called the dock master and told him to bed the ship down until tomorrow. News like this, and days like these, deserve one thing. A celebration. I won't be fit to fly for a while.
Stay safe Cmdrs. O7
