Helping Out a Friend

As some of you may know we have bought The Mighty Oak back to the Bubble after our maiden voyage out into the black. It needs some adjustments and re-stocking so while that's going on, I have given the crew some down time while I help out a friend that had contacted me.Thargoids.
So my friend has managed to scrape together some money and has ended up in an Anaconda that he has named the Xenoconda. He's got himself mixed up with the AX Initiative and he's loving it. So he was telling about doing his bit to save the galaxy, attacking the spire sites and asked if I wanted to join. Now I've had my fair share of Thargoid interaction and it's not what I like doing, but I'll do it. I mean, if the Federation brings in some sort of max conscription when humanity looks like we're getting completely overrun, and I'll be the first in line, but when it's a choice. I'm not so keen. However, when a friend asks and you have a few hundred million just sloshing about, why not.
So one AX Anaconda build completed and I was off. It was hard work at the start as I've not got a lot of AX engineering done, even my ship engineering was done a long time ago before things got all fancy so I've got some guardian stuff and that;s about it. Once we got in the swing of things though, and I even ended up flying with the AXI boys too, and it was ok. At 40MCr a pop for those Ortherus 'goids and lots of 75kCr scouts about, the time pays. I'd say I earned a good half a billion so I can't complain. What it did do though is show my friend that he needs some engineering too so he's off jumping around Guardian sites picking up stuff and making the Xenaconda even more effective which leaves me with some free time while the carrier gets sorted.
I've decided to get some suit upgrades so I've met up with some bloke called Domino Green who's gonna show me how to do things and I think thats how I'll kill some time. I've heard talk that these upgrades can lead to some sinister work but maybe I won't have to go down that line.
Anyway, I'm sat here waiting for my ship to be delivered as I had to leave it after landing in a system that was at boiling point. Just my luck that I end up in a war zone! I pulled into this station and it was madness. Security and Army officials all running round and there were evacuees everywhere. The stupid thing was that seeing all those families and children fleeing the war hit me right in the feels and I ended up getting roped into some mercenary work and I quickly found myself being dropped into conflict zones, running round protecting buildings and settlements for the Steel Wolves.
I did my bit and then left and ended up in an Apex Shuttle as my ship got stuck when the landing pads were bombed. So here I am. Sat in a bar 120ly away from my ship having just spent over 50K in Apex fees. I'll let you know how it goes with Domino.
