The Ultimate Grind

Almost three years ago, I climbed aboard my Sidewinder and set off on a quest to earn a galactic fortune. It was hard graft in those early days earning pay outs through mission work, community goals and bounty hunting, but gradually both my wallet and my fleet of ships grew bigger and bigger. When the announcement was made a few weeks back that fleet carriers would be available for commanders to purchase in June of this year, I knew I just had to have one. The problem was, I only had 600,000,000 credits in my account and there was no way I would be parting with any of the 38 ships that I currently have in my fleet to generate the required funds. I therefore embarked on an intensive 3 week period of mining activity to achieve the 5,000,000,000 credit purchase price.
Having first attempted to mine the infamous triple LTD hot spot in Borann, it quickly became apparent that this was a bad idea. Judging by the density of the dust cloud, it seemed the entire galactic mining population had assembled there for exactly the same reason. Pickings were slim, and a frustrating couple of sessions prompted a change of tactics.
I therefore gambled on searching out double hot spots in some of the less popular common reserves and subsequently found a couple which were crystal clear and full of LTD packed core asteroids. With “Great Prospectations”, my trusty Imperial Cutter kitted out with state of the art mining equipment, I found that I could mine 150 – 200 LTD’s in daily 2 hour sessions. Whilst I now have sufficient funds for the carrier purchase, I intend to continue building my funds up to cover module purchases and initial upkeep costs.
I'm looking forward to venturing out into deep space to find an as yet undiscovered mining mecca and hopefully return with enough LTD’s to cover running costs for the foreseeable future. Thereafter, my carrier will be available to the highest bidding factions for contract work.
