the powers and the games they play

<Private Log>The powers have decided to initiate hunger-...err no "dangerous games". Somehow this seems strange to me. How can the powers in charge be so arrogant to believe they can humble other factions into such a competion? But on the other hand there is a chance for some groups I respect to get a slice of the power cake. So maybe lets just accept this carnival and play the game and grab the chances as they come.
At the moment I received the news broadcast of those dangerous games I was entering a combat zone for the Hudson expansion in HIP 9377. It was strange that the expansion was labeld as military strike again. I thought those name was a thing of the past and Hudson had resigned to a more civil approach calling his expansions "security operations". You know: President Hudson does not conquer he secures. Haha. Yes. But being serious I tell you a strange thing happened as I entered the combat zone. All system defence forces were floating in space and submitting without resistance. It seems Hudson has changed his ethos from combat to the use of brain-wash or something.
Also most ships in the system used fancy and colorful pyrotechnics to blow up the passivly floating defense forces. Have the space engineers held a special sales party nearby? Or were the shiny explosions a PR-event to announce the hungerrr..dangerous games? I dont know. But I imagine many things can be possible in a universe that contains a once respected president, Miss Halsey, in the core of a psychiatric care astroid near Mars - how the rumor goes.
However in the hype of the hungerr... dangerous games most of my navel duty came to a halt. So I had some time to egange into mining - to support the only federal aligned faction - Adels Armade. After days of hard work I could source the unbelievable amount of - four tons(!) - of gold and deliverd to Naunin as advertised by all powers on even the smallest and remotest outposts of the galaxy.
As much as I enjoyed to drift among the fragments of the gas planets ring enjoing the view and firing off collector drones - it grew dull on me quite soon - and I returned to missions and independent trading.
The outbreak at sol gave me a good opportunity to earn quite well on the delivery of medical equipment. That was about the luckyest thing I have come across.
After helping to "comb the planet" for some natty materials needed for some space mechanic to improve a friends spacecraft for seemingly hours and hours with no gain, I definitly discarded the thought to accept those unexpected invitations from those queer tinkerers who tend to hide away on remote planets.
Maybe I will visit some of them if I have amassed millions of credits an my freetime is so plentyful that I can afford to spend hours and hours for theire demanding looting requests.
It seems I am more of a hunter then a collector. So I wait to the end of the dangerous games and hope the winners will shine theire light in the galaxy and give it a new and mindstrucking hue.
