"Just some ramblings #001"

3306-02-06, Whitson City, HIP 13750.Well, I think the war is won. And I feel, I did my duty to the less fortunate for now. Here, back in the dock and having the small damage I sustained repaired, I find myself thinking about the system. Please indulge me in giving you my stream of thoughts.
We live in a world where slavery is acceptable and even openly displayed. We live in a world where the members of the smaller factions have no other choice than to become pirates, to provide for their families. Both things are considered illegal, but we all seem to accept it, rather than to try and fix it. We do our thing and with trillions of people spread over thousands of systems, those people have become expendable. A nuisance to ignore, or to just dispatch as soon as possible. And here comes my observation: that, in history, was always only the case in wars. The war took priority over the people. But what do we see nowadays?
We, for some unexplained reason, seem to have the civility to restrict our wars to “conflict zones”. There is some spillover when a combatant forgets that he wants to dock in the enemies territory, but other than that, wars are restricted… It seems so counterintuitive. We restrict wars, so the piracy and slavery can go on un-interupted. I have a hypothesis:
I think we have copied conflict zones from the Thargoids, just as we have copied the hyperdrive.
Think about it. The Thargoids have two battlefronts. Attacking stations (a territory dispute) and the AX conflict zones (fighting the war). Other than that, they just leave us to our own business. They occasionally hyperdict, but if you have nothing to hide, they just let you go. Just like system security does in systems in a state of war. Provided, of course, that you don't start shooting at the Thargoids, while they are just doing their thing...
That is just my 2 cents. I, sometimes, am afraid that the best things in our universe are things we copied from the Guardians and the Thargoids and our own system is as broken as it has ever been. But, I count myself lucky not to live in a universe that just has a two party system. As broken as our system is, we are still: many voices toward one future.
