Burning Station

I was looking a break from search and rescue. I decided to head to neighboring Maia for a drink. I hadn't been to Maia since Professor Palin charged me an arm and a leg to upgrade some thrusters. I wanted to stop at Obsidian Orbital but something didn’t feel right. When I dropped out, I witnessed the aftermath of a full scale assault on a human base. Fire poured from the openings, but there were survivors still inside. I entered the inhospitable docking bay where temperatures were like a Blu-white star. I took as many people as I could from the doomed station to the nearby rescue ship. I outfitted as many passenger cabins as my ship could hold and returned for more survivors. It seemed the more I took from the fiery station, the more there were waiting for me. I could not stop. I could not leave them. I ran shuttle for a week on end without sleep, until one of the passengers caught me sleeping while waiting in queue at the dock and couldn’t get me to awaken when my turn was up.
I don't know what to think of these Thargoids. The destruction of stations and vessels is concerning to me. That said, I have never communicated with them and I do not know their motives. The only violence I have witnessed was upon my own ship (and I was running away at the time). I have not witnessed them attacking unprovoked stations. I don't know what to make of them, but I still haven't had that drink.
