Things have been quiet the last couple days. Well, relatively. The ADF has me checking out these "barnacle" sites around the sector. The working theory is that they're refueling sites. Or possibly automated mining sites. I think my bitching finally got through to someone, they're paying me a premium for returning Meta-Alloys and scan data packages from the barnacles to the Cooper Research Centre at HIP 19072. It's not without a bit of danger, of course. They didn't tell me about the Fed battlecruisers parked over each site I've been to so far. No real life Thargoids either, just their structures and their leftovers.I've been thinking lately, plenty enough time for that. I don't think we're doing the right thing out here in the Pleiades. What if humanity's entire relationship with the Thargoids is the product of one grave misunderstanding after another? What if we screwed something up all those centuries ago in the Lave System, or the Thargoids screwed up, and it just slid downhill from there? Where have they been and what have they been up to? Maybe they got the message that the primates weren't something to mess with, and decided to take care of themselves for awhile.
Now here we are expanding into the Pleiades, the California Nebula, the Witch Head Sector, and there's every indication the Thargoids have already been here awhile. Is this their territory? We're here in their business again, maybe they're testing the waters trying to gauge our intentions. And here we are, raiding their refueling stations(?), ransacking their bases(?), getting in shooting matches with their scouting(?) vessels. What if their probes we're finding is them doing the same thing we've always done: sending out an exploration mission looking for the next inhabitable planet to claim. And we're carting them off to reverse engineer. What sort of message do you think that sends? I think we've been making our bed, and are about to be made to lay in it.
I just can't shake the feeling that we're the villain in this piece.
