CMDR BROWN - The Hero of Estae

Given I have recounted the tale of the Railroad's maiden achievement in Hraean - its only fitting to talk about Estae, which was our second.This was a more fortuitous event. Our actions in Hraean and communication chatter about the Railroad pricked up the ears of the Freedom Party in Estae. This was not an area the Railroad operated in - but the Freedom Party was already engaged in a conflict with the controlling faction - one Jet Mafia.
The Freedom Party sent one of their operatives to try to make contact with the Railroad. We established a secure comms channel with them, through which they let us know the desperate situation they were in. The Jet Mafia were brutalizing them in the war, and contacting us was the last roll of the dice for them - despite having no clear proof of our existance at the time, let alone any capability we may have had.
The Jet Mafia were not adverse to the slave trade, and so while the Freedom Party were not necessarily our cup of tea - being a dictatorship that dealt in imperials - we weighed our options pretty carefully. This was an opportunity to strike a second quick blow against the slave trade, one that we were averse to pass up.
Time was against us - Hraean was well and truly won.
Direction was passed onto our operatives - Cmdr Brown left Hraean and engaged in Estae.
Django also tagged along and rode a couple of condas to nudge things along - all the while doubtful of the final result.
I don't know how they did it - but over the course of a night's action - Cmdr Brown had turned the conflict completely around. From a position of weakness, the Freedom Party began to assert themselves and managed to throw down the Jet Mafia.
The victory wasn't overwhelming like in Hraean, but when you get another 1 in the Win column, you don't care how its achieved.
We didn't have the planning and precision in Estae that we had in Hraen - we struck when we were given the opportunity.
This is one of the strengths of the Railroad. We can be anywhere, anytime.
And we will look to use any opportunity to our advantage in advancing the cause of freedom for our people.
