Pegasi Slave Rebellion [3] Clair Dock - and getting shot in the back....by an Omega lackey...again.

I need to learn quickly, listen to my own advice, otherwise this is going to go south quickly."Obviously now they know my identity. Now I need to tread more carefully - need to keep an eye on my comms channel while flying their space."
Yes - I noted that down in my last log.
And then - what? Fly into Clair Dock - main station in Tjakiri and base of Black Omega, planning to add fuel to the fire of rebellion in their home state - without paying any attention to the radar.
I am writing this down so I can beat myself up over it daily until I internalise it.
Flying into the station, I engage autodock, put my feet on the cockpit and began reviewing and responding to personal communications.
Next - warning sounds about shields damage. I look up and notice I am being attacked from behind just as I land on the pad.
Calmly, I hit enter hanger, put my feet back on the cockpit and review which omega thug I was dealing with this time.
Ouberous. Ah....Ouberous - he who thought we could be kindred spirits because we both have somewhat fierce independent streaks.
Where we differ is that he is a self-interested, immoral pro slaver pirate who has no scruples ambushing the weak for piracy and ill gain but expects others to face him in a straight up fight when it suits him.
We have history - he threatened to shoot me down if he saw me in the Pegasi.
At least he tried to make good on his promise.
Still, if tickling me with a Keelback laser in the back while I am docking is the best he can do - I think he will have a while longer to wait to fulfill his word.
Which shouldn't bother him in the least - integrity is not a trait associated with pirates.
I opened the comms channel for a chance to parlay.
Next - down to business. Threats and an exchange of taunts. Reflecting on his words - I realise how little Omega understand about what kind of insurgency and rebellion they are facing.
I imagine Ouberous had swapped out his Keelback for one of those engineered FDLs the Omega thugs seem to be so fond of.
I wasn't going to risk my work-horse to run through the gauntlet.
Keeping him talking, I headed to the shipyard to pick up something a bit more suitable. Dumping my cargo - I end up going for a Viper with a few A Spec components.
Not flown one before - but I was confident I would be able to land a couple of blows, take a couple more and make good my getaway in it. And if not, meh, its cheap.
As I leave the hanger, readying myself to run the Omega gauntlet - it appears Ouberous was no longer around.....
Unsure of the situation - I headed out to a nearby station to deliver some data. Returning - I was more confident that there was no Omega ambush. Swapping back into my python - I decided to leave the Viper there in case its needed in the future.
Need to learn my lessons quicker if I don't want to suffer some expensive mistakes.
Now, where is that "donkey" sign?
