Pegasi Slave Rebellion [6] - An Interlude with Aliens

I needed to get away from the Pegasi for a while. Clear my head.Dusting off my DBX - I decided to head out to see what all the news circulating regarding the Thargoid appearance was about.
First stop was the forest. Strange alien structures, a lot of barnacles. I aided another commander reach the point - we winged up until we arrived. Man was flying a Type 9. It takes all sorts, but it was nice to be around a regular civilian.
The forest has become something of a tourist attraction, and being uncomfortable among others I made a quick exit.
Next stop was to review some of the shipwrecks left behind, apparantly as the result of Thargoid attacks. Nothing much unusual. Man killing man. Thargoid killing man. Ultimately the same result.
After that, I wanted to see if I could find a thargoid - look at them face to face so to speak. I had seen recordings of them previously, including some of the recent battles which had exposed their vulnerability to newly developed weapons. As usual, we never disappoint when it comes to finding new means of destruction.
Entering HR 1885 it was only a moment before an alien signal emerged. Here was my chance. Dropped in, and was quickly face to face with a thargoid. Lightly armed DBX vs Alien.
I am not sure if it was a ship, or a creature, or a mix of both.
It was however, somewhat magnificent. Maybe even poetic, in a space kind of way.
It came up to the front of my ship - "sniffed" me a couple of time, before returning to look at some wreckage and then deciding to wake out of the area.
It was a peaceful face off. Somehow I even felt some affinity with it. They attack when provoked. I haven't seen evidence that they initiate any aggression. But when you are shown aggression that you did not seek - you may respond in kind. There is honour in that.
I am not sure what they are up to.
It was then I decided that the Thargoids are not my enemy.
Not yet. Not today.
Maybe they are evil, though I am no longer sure what that is anymore anyway.
Maybe they are a threat to me. But I have no evidence for it.
And so we remain as we found each other. Face to face, but with a chasm between us.
With that, I was able to return to the Pegasi with a clearer head. Something has been lifted off my chest for the time being.
