Daddy's home...and I'm not liking the Krait so much

I've only been home a few days and already I screwed up. Well, sorta. After cashing in my cartographic data, I had just over 150mil credits. I immediately threw away half of that when I initiated the transfer of my Chieftain from Jameson Memorial. That still chaps my hide! It costs more to transport than the ship is actually worth. Highway robbery, if you ask me. So, I bought a Krait. I like the cockpit interior. I'm finding I'm not such a fan of the blocked view the "wings" create, though. Since a lot of commanders have suggested the Krait would be a worthy replacement for the Python, and it's similarly moduled, I went in with the expectation it would perform about the same as a stock Python. Um....no. In supercruise, the Krait actually handles well, better than the Python. Oh, but dropping into normal space? It handles worse than an AspX! The yaw performance is so incredibly painful and slow! When I turn off Flight Assist, the entire ship acts like it is now disconnected from the controls. Talk about being a sitting duck. And I discovered this the hard way. Stupidly, I decided to submit to a Gunship that interdicted me--normally an easy shake-off--and put him in his place. Nope. He had my Krait chopped up and spinning uncontrollably into space before the final shot sent me back to the re-buy shop. Now, I have some pinned blueprints--including for thrusters-- so I set to doing some remote engineering. Sadly, you can't apply experimentals remotely, but still, these are improvements. A short trip to a High-Rez site to test out the mods, and I discovered a barely perceptible improvement. It still feels like a dead stick and throttle when FA is off. I'm starting to think that my Krait came off the lemon lot.
Well, now I need to set about the business of rebuilding my bank account...all this messing around has seriously depleted my reserves.
