Thargoid Encounters, Record-setting Shenanigans.

It's been a whirlwind of a weekend. I met up with several of my fellow Silverbacks at one of the abandoned-but-not-quite-dormant Thargoid bases. By get a hold of a Thargoid sensor we were able to gain entrance to this ancient base/city. From a lofty perch, this place was remarkable and a little less frightening. It's been discovered that if you can get a hold of a Thargoid Probe, and then add an Uplink Device and a Sensor you can drop them in the matching receptacle in the center chamber and it activates a pretty interesting lightshow...that nobody has been able to understand yet.
It really is a beautiful sight. Hells even know why the Thargoids created this or why. I find it hard to believe they might have actually made it for aesthetic reasons. It's more likely that it was some sort of battle plan.
Anyway, once we'd had our fill of Thargoid tech, we ventured back outside, where two of our Silverbacks set to establishing what we believe is a new record. One commander jetted his SRV on top of another commander's Krait. Then they proceeded to carefully and ever so slowly work the vertical lift....all the way up to 12 KILOMETERS. There were a few close calls along the way, as the already-light gravity lessened with altitude and the SRV floated up off the Krait. Fortunately, the skills of both commanders allowed for quick, though nail-bighting, recovery. At about 12.1 kilometers, a third Krait commander who had be recording the event pulled up nose-to-nose with the first Krait...and the SRV commander executed a perfect mid-air transfer to the other Krait. After a bit of cheering from the rest of us on the ground and proper wait time, he then launched himself from the Krait. Incredibly, he landed safely as a result of strategic application of thrusters. Absolutely amazing!
Later, quite a number of us met up in Celaeno to spend a few hours bug-hunting. I must say, I learned a lot as a result and I was glad my anti-xeno Krait was up for the task. Several Cyclops and several million credits later, I made my way back to Arexe to switch out for my little Diamondback Scout to go searching High-Grade Emissions for rare materials and then set down on a moon to try to replenish my supplies of raw materials.
You know, the explorer in me can never resist a gorgeous view, and I find I must take the time to simply enjoy it. After all...I'm in no real hurry.
