Well, I'm Ashamed To Admit It....

...but I broke down and pledged--albeit temporarily--to Aisling Duvall. I was close to going home. I mean seriously close. One day away from battening down my core systems mini-fleet and then heading back to the Colonia region in my ExplOrca. At the last second I gave in to the urge to acquire some prismatic shields. Which, as everyone knows, you can only get from Aisling's little empire.Crap.
So, here I am, a little over two weeks later, pledged to Aisling and working my way through the process to get access to those shields. In the mean time, I've been focusing on assisting in general ops in support of The Silverbacks, training new commanders, with sprinkles of Low Temp Diamond mining. I have a Type-9 freighter parked in Aisling's backyard, waiting for the right time to knock out the final bit of merits I need. Then I'm selling that behemoth.
I discovered I was extremely low on some critical engineering materials, so I spent a couple of hours doing some heavy foraging around Dav's Hope. A tedious, though very successful, exercise. I then followed that bit of monotony up with a couple of days bouncing through systems looking for some high grade signal sources, to re-stock on other more difficult materials. That was also pretty successful.
Then, it was off to meeting up with my fellow Silverbacks to put some hurt on a few Thargoids. This was exceptionally profitable, although I had a couple of close calls that I almost didn't walk away from. While this is all just dandy, as I edge closer to those prismatics I realize the pull to go back home is looming stronger. I've been away for a couple of months, now, and I know a lot has changed. I've been following this shiny news service call Vox Galactica, and it just makes me want to get back to my sky that much more.
Oh, and then there's the whole fleet carrier thing. I don't know about y'all, but what the hells would I want with what amounts to a personally owned flying station? I just don't get it. I have no practical use for it, yet so many commanders I know are just itching uncontrollably to throw six to ten billion credits plus upkeep into one of them. Uh-uh, not me.
I'll stick living by my wits out in the deep black, thanks!
