The overall mission can be found here.

The log is structured into the following sections:
  • Overview
  • The Plan - showing the stages within the phase for the route of the journey.
  • Phase - explaining the exact route with specific notable entries and images. With progress shown in green.
  • Progress stats - giving the phase totals and overall totals for the journey.
  • Route - showing the phase route and overall journey since Phase 1.
  • The Plan ahead - outlining what the next phase will cover.

Phase 16 was broken into the stages below:
  • Stage 1 started by taking part in a Community Goal - Federal Initiative to Protect Supplies for Marlinist Refugees.
  • Stage 2 was around the bubble, heading to Hutton orbital, adjusting Viatorem and doing the preparation for the Colonia Engineers.
  • Stage 3 involved taking part in the mysteries being discovered around the bubble.
  • Stage 4 then meant diving into the deep end with Neutron star jumping by using the highway to Colonia.

This phase has taken 34 hours effort since the Phase 15 update.

Stage 1 started from Shinrarta Dezhra where I changed ships to my Cutter Constantinople.

The ship was flown over to LFT 625 where a few days were spent in the Low RES. Not many bounties were being earned so I considered whether to stop and move to Stage 2...

However, the Biological and Scientific sites were investigated and had a much higher concentration of high value targets available for defending the outputs. The Collective Statistical Analysis Scientific Installation was the location where I focused my efforts and it was an interesting looking place to defend.

It was enjoyable to fly around the site, including through the tunnels in my fighter and even the Cutter on a few sections!

Although quicker progress was made at the Scientific Installation, it was still much slower than I'd have liked as when enemies deployed chaff, my pilot Ethan and I hit the installation a few times so were given fines. The worst bit though, was when the deflected beams hit allied security vessels, they immediately issued bounties which meant various detours were needed to the RALU system to clear them. After handing in 9,344,074 credits and reaching the top 10 on day 6, it was time to move on.

  • The progress values for the first stage were 22 jumps, 39 scans and 266LY - worth 8,971 credits.

  • Stage 2 was to fly back to Shinrarta Dezhra and swap ships to the Mamba Celerignis

Next was to go over to Hutton Orbital to unlock the EDSM badge 'Hutton Orbital Landing'. The thing was, I'd already been there twice but those were before I used the Elite API so there was no record in EDDN. Anyway, the long flight was a perfect time to catch up with the INARA log.

After that, it was time to head back to Shinrarta Dezhra, where Viatorem would then be used for the rest of the Phase.

Next on the list was to earn 100,000 credits in bounty credits for Mel Brandon and after that, would be mining 10 tonnes of Osmium for Marsha Hicks. I went over to the BORAN system to earn both of those and on that night, the bounty vouchers were ticked off.

The following day, I had second thoughts about mining as there was a mystery being investigated around the bubble and Coalsack nebula. So instead, Stage 3 was started...

MUSCA DARK REGION PJ-P B6-1 was 7 jumps / 421.36LY away, where there was an interesting INRA base discovered in the system:

An abandoned SRV was found after a 10km drive to a nearby barnacle site, which also had a Thargoid interceptor come over for an extraction:

Lastly on the surface, a crashed Thargoid interceptor was discovered:

After listening to some logs and getting another clue, a course was set to the CHUKCHAN system where a 200 year old destroyed megaship was found:

The following day, a route was set for HIP 69200, planet 1 B where a crashed sidewinder was found:

A course was then plotted for Synuefe XE-Y C17-7 and a listening post was found there:

After getting some more data, I was stuck without knowing what to do next and waiting for some deep space news. I decided to head to LFT 625 to collect the rewards from the CG and call it a night there.

No breaking news came to light on the next day so the time was spent making a new panel for the ship.
In RL, building a Rainmeter panel for a readout of the EDDI TTS log so when ED is used, I don't just hear but also see all interesting info on a tablet. I'm happy to share the details and files if you'd like that for your setup.

I decided to get back to the main mission after that and continued Stage 2, returning to BORAN where mining 10T Osmium was picked up again.

When that was done, it was time to head home to make adjustments to Viatorem for the next stage.
  • Viatorem's normal loadout in Coriolis.
  • Viatorem's adjusted Neutron star jumping loadout in Coriolis.

  • The last stop in the bubble was seeing The Dweller to engineer a power distributor. Even before that and with carrying 10T, the system was only 1 jump away at 75.5LY.

The mod was done, 5 limpets were bought at the nearby station and a route was set to JUNIPER using this site.

  • The progress values at that point were 45 jumps (67 total), 517 scans (556 total), 3 planets mapped (3 total) and 2,461.54LY (2,727.10 total) - worth 2,008,106 credits (2,017,077 total).
  • The average scans per system were 11.49 and the phase average was then 8.30 scans per system

  • Stage 4 was then in progress, following the 90 jump route from the site shared above.

With the first Neutron star jump, the EDSM badge '...Gone!' was unlocked by jumping over 200LY. That brought my EDSM badges to 60. o7

After 27 Neutron star jumps and 14,982.14 LY remaining, a rest was taken in the PYRALEAU MO-F D12-50 system, near a class M and Neutron star:

In the system PREIA PHOE NK-G B1-6, another break was taken to repair the FSD and refuel. There were then only 38 Neutron jumps left.

I had the next stop off at the BLUA EAEC UG-B D14-63 system to repair the FSD, map 3 unmapped Terraformable worlds, relax for a while and make some food onboard the ship. From there, the destination was 4,823.19LY away.

When 9 jumps remained, the system EOCH FLYUAE LN-J D9-1918 contained 6 unmapped terraformable HM worlds and 5 of those were visited around star B.

With the last jumps done, Viatorem arrived at the Watchtower in the TIR system, ready for Phase 17.

  • The progress values of the final day were 111 jumps, 1,243 scans, 19 planets mapped and 23,851.66LY travelled at the value of 37,541,071 credits. The totals can be seen in the following section.
  • The average scans per system were 11.20.

  • -------------------
    | Progress Stats |
    -------------------

The progress values for Phase 16 were:
  • Jumps: 178
  • Distance: 26,578.76LY
  • Scans: 1,799
  • Planets Mapped: 22
  • Value: 39,558,148
  • Average scans per system: 10.11

  • Combining the totals from the 16 Phases gives the overall progress of:
  • Jumps: 5,429
  • Distance: 256,925.06LY
  • Scans: 79,838
  • Planets Mapped: 1,840
  • Value: 3,542,211,937
  • Average scans per system: 14.71

    Shown for Phases 1-16:

    | The plan ahead |
    ---------------------

Phase 17 will be to level up the 4 Colonia engineers and explore many more systems in the area as based on the previous phases progress stats, the systems in that area contain many more planets compared to all other regions (as you can see in the previous logs as well).
I'll check over the factions since my last visit over a month ago in Phase 13 and will visit any new factions in power, to get allied with those too.
