Well the Aurora Sagittarius made the journey out here beyond the bubble for the 4th time since she was commissioned, and out here with us is our good friend, wingmate and mentor, Cmdr. Indigowyrd. The good Commander was kind enough to send us a data packet containing the list of the systems we need to visit in order to get the most out of the mission we had accepted from Felice Dock in Meene.
We are currently at the second site in the mission, have acquired all the necessary items for reading the Ancient Obelisks both on the previous planet we had just visited, and for any of the ones to follow in this mission. Right now in our hold we have 2 Ancient Caskets, 5 Ancient Tablets, 2 Ancient Orbs, 2 Ancient Urns, 2 Ancient Relics, and 2 Ancient Totems.
While I know from previous missions that two of each item are really all that's required, with a maximum cargo hold capacity of 160 tons, I see no reason to not to pick up extras, as in my past missions out here I have found that once I have returned to the bubble and docked at Felice Dock in Meene they tend to hold quite a significant value to them, so I figured if I had extra, then I will make some extra money in the process.
This will be the first time we have actually completed the mission in whole, rather than settling for a good chunk of change from our scans.
In case anyone who is reading this has never been out this direction, I highly recommend it. The planets and moons that the ruins are located at seem to have a life of their own, even though the Ancients are long gone. The ambient sounds and groans tell me that at one time this place was alive, and now it is simply haunted by the spirits of the Ancients who once inhabited these worlds.
While I only have bits and pieces of information at this time, per my last few missions out this way, what I was able to read was rather intriguing. A race that seemed to be divided between religion, and technology. One not so far off from what 20th century Earth was like. When I have acquired all of the scans for the ruins, I will produce a final report based on my findings prior to turning in the mission to the Felice Dock in Meene. Once I turn in the mission, all of the data gets transferred with it.
I am finding that the Scarab (SRV) is performing very well in these adverse conditions, and since I am over 22 jumps from the closest star port to resupply, I decided on this journey I would outfit the Aurora Sagittarius with a Type 4G Vehicle Hanger, which can hold up to two Scarabs. Each one is customized in color and insignias, but aside from their cosmetic appearance, they are virtually identical in performance.
As a seasoned explorer, I find exploring these ruins very tranquil and serene. Something about driving around the surface of an alien world and learning about another species really puts my mind at ease, and the desire to learn more about this species, who they are, what they did, and how they may have come to pass, is very interesting.
While I have become accustom to the sounds that the planets and moons make, Trysha Sagittarius, my First Officer, is trying to get used to it. This is her first time out here beyond the bubble, and she stays aboard the ship while I scan the surface.
One of the most interesting things I have seen to date is a Dwarf Star that has rings around it. What's even more amazing is that you can see the rings from the surface of AB9A here and they do contain high concentrations of metallic mass, which suggests that they may contain Painite, Palladium, and perhaps Platinum.
Unfortunately the Type-9 is clear back in the Pan System, and would not be able to make the long trek out this way. If it did, I could see us mining the rings. Who knows, maybe they have some other resources in them that just might prove to be useful, and may perhaps explain how the Ancients have pretty much vanished.
So far we currently have an entry for the language of the Ancients and an entry for the history of them. I still have much to explore and retrieve over the next few days. As for now, we have landed on the second location to retrieve data from the Ancient Obelisks, and I think that we are going to call it a night and continue our mission tomorrow. From what I have read thus far, I can't help but wonder if a theory I have shared with Cmdr. Indigowyrd may in fact be true. If it is true, then that explains our new adversaries, the Thargoids.
I would love to continue this entry, but my eyes are getting tired and it's getting hard to focus so I will close for the evening.
Tomorrow is a new day of exploration...
