Commander's Personal Entry - November 13th, 3303

13 Nov 2017Orion Starhunter
It has been about three days since my last entry as I had taken some well needed shore leave. During my time away I pondered a problem I was having with the Microscopium. Turns out that during an FSD Jump, heat levels would rise beyond 80%, which was not favorable. After a bit of research, I decided once back from leave, I would take her to some engineers and work out the bugs in her system.

As luck would have it, changing the Power Plant, Thrusters, and FSD, heat levels started returning to a normal range. Instead of the 80%+ during the initialization of the FSD Drive, I was now getting around 63-65% heat levels and holding. This greatly pleased me.

Along with this, I also downgraded a few components as well, and removed all three missile launchers, and replaced them with two 2F turreted multi-cannons to further reduce the heat signature and also lower overall power consumption.

The current build has been updated as has the ship's name. Her new, more appropriate name is the U.S.S. Discovery. Built to venture out into deep space, and search in the unknown. Unfortunately to do all this, I had to sell the Type-9. It was a good mining ship, but something tells me if I really need to, I can outfit the Discovery so she can mine as well.

Along with the major overhaul, I happened across a young lady named Zaylah Bean. She was in the mess hall when I was in the Sirius system. Seems that Ms. Bean has a history with the Empire, as her father was an Imperial Guard assigned to a high-ranking senator. Of whom she will not say, but she has knowledge of the Thargoids, and because of that I have decided to hire her on to our crew. Dan Baxter, our other fighter pilot, seems to get along well with her, and they do trade military stories from when they were kids.

On a local level, we are still here in the Avalon system, waiting out what could be one of the most potential wars yet to come. While doing so, the system went on alert, having yet another civil war break out. Although I do not know the details of what precipitated this event, something tells me it has to do with politics, as it usually does. My philosophy is to stay out of what doesn't concern us. I'm sure as with other systems I've visited, war zones will break out around planets, forcing pilots to take one side or the other. As for the Discovery, we're going to steer clear of such chaos, and proceed with our primary mission, explore the universe.

Well for now I will close. Haven't spoken to Cmdr. Indigowyrd in a few days, but will definitely have to catch up with him the next time I see his wing signal.

For now, I'll do my usual routine, make my way to the promenade deck for my evening coffee, and just watch out of the observation deck at the ships entering and leaving Noctilux station. If I hurry, I'll meet Trysha there...
