Commander's Personal Entry - December 16th, 3303

We have a new ship, named after my soon to be future wife, the U.S.S. Trysha Ann.It is an Orca Class ship, and a very good one too. We've all taken the liberty to decorate the ship with Christmas decor, ranging from lights to bobble head Christmas Tree and Santa on the dash.
Once again we got the call to assist some refugees out of a Thargoid attacked station, but ran into something we did not anticipate.
Our scanners picked up a science vessel, so we plotted our course to intercept it and examine it. When we dropped out of super cruise, much to our surprise, the ship looked like it had lost a big battle. There were scarring marks on her hull, reminiscent of the markings we have seen on the stations that were attacked. Several of the ships components were broken off, or missing. The bridge (or at least what we guess to be the bridge) was on fire.
Then we heard what we feared... A Thargoid ship came into the same area as us, and began scanning us and the science ship. We backed off from the science ship to observe the Thargoid vessel. It had a swarm of smaller ships orbiting it, while it moved around the science ship and scanned it.
We made attempts to scan the Thargoid ship itself, but no scans were conclusive or were just plain reflected. As we monitored the behavior of the Thargoid vessel, it seemed to ignore us. Perhaps too curious about the science ship, or looking for something in particular. Eventually the Thargoid recalled the smaller swarm, and warped out of the system.
This is our first encounter with the Thargoids, and was not a comfortable feeling, seeing the devastation that happened to the science ship, and what we have witnessed at the stations we have helped evacuate.
We are currently docked at Ceres Tarn, and I had the U.S.S. Discovery sent here, to help with evacuation procedures for Oracle Station. For now the crew and I are going to rest, and will get back to helping the refugees at Oracle Station tomorrow.
It has been both a busy, and interesting day, to say the least...
More later as it happens..
