Commander's Personal Entry - December 23rd, 3303
23 Dec 2017Orion Starhunter
We are currently running a Community Goal for the Guaras system of which is two fold.First mission is a trade mission, in which we have been supplying the local starport with Titanium to help build against Thargoid threats.
While we have moved quite a few tons of materials, we have barely scratched a dent in the demand for the materials needed.
I have dispatched both the USS Discovery and the USS Trysha Ann to help in transporting the required materials before the weeks end.
I am confident that the crews of both ships will do just fine, and will be able to help the people of the Guaras system prepare against any Thargoid attacks.
While I certainly understand the reasoning behind this mission, I do not wish them to end up in the situation like the last 3 ports we visited, who were attacked and left in disarray. For the life of me, I will never forget those people, or their cries for help.
Our second mission is to clear the area of hostiles for the Guaras system. I have had the Aurora Sagittarius dispatched to our location to use her arsenal at my disposal. Both Cmdr. Trysha Sagittarius and myself will be running these missions, as we have recently upgraded the armor, hull, and weapons on the Aurora Sagittarius.
As the day presses on, I got word from our families back on Earth that it is snowing, and that December is starting to look more like Christmas. I wished I was able to get back to Sol to see them, however our duties require our presence here in the Guaras System, which is quite a ways away from "home". Both my wife and myself wished our family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as we explained the reason we would not be able to be home for the Holiday.
Both of our parents are up there in age, and for each year that passes, both Trysha and I realize that this is another year that we can't get back, another year where we won't make the most of our time left with our parents. We are both saddened by this, but it seems like every year we promise we will get together with family for the holidays. At our age, we have a constant reminder that time does not stand still, but continues on, in everything we do, and eventually the inevitable will happen, whether we want it to or not. I find that we do our best to prolong the inevitable, and in some cases, make excuses as to why we have not done what we feel is right in our hearts. Of course on the other end of the spectrum, we are given our orders, so as commanders must follow what we are asked to do, and that makes it even more difficult.
As my last entry for the day, I will leave just this... Be good to one another, spend that sacred time with your family, and have a very Merry Christmas.
