This is not a typical installation like the last few we have visited.  This is the site of a wrecked ship.  There are warning beacons around it.

The ship is of a Cobra Mk III Class with the hull markings of JJ-386.  While I have no idea who's markings these are, it does look like this ship has been modified to some degree.  Around the ship, the beacons are data beacons and there are 4 of them.  After scanning them, I proceeded to pick up the scattered cargo on the ground.  I retrieved one canister of Beryllium, one canister of Explosives, one canister of Biowaste, one canister of Chemical Waste, and one canister of Battle Weapons.  I can only guess that this ship was enroute to some sort of battle site.

I scanned the ship and the scans revealed high concentrations of Mycoid particles, and gave me the name of the registered pilot.

One Commander Jameson.  Commander John Jameson.  Is this any relation to the Engineer Lori Jameson?

Once we decoded the data beacons, we listened to the audio logs, and got our answers.

After my first officer, Trysha Starhunter and I listened to this, both of us said, "What the fuck!"

So here's what we have figured out.  Commander John Jameson was scheduled on a mission to a Thargoid Hive ship, the very same ship type that attacked the previous base, of which they made to look like a military base, so they could test the new prototype Anti-Thargoid Weapon.  Unfortunately that mission failed, but a new mission was put into place, with Cmdr. Jameson piloting a Cobra Mk. III carrying a classified payload.  This contents of this payload were disclosed to Cmdr. Jameson as such that it would disable the Thargoid Hyperdrives so humanity could live in peace once more.

This information, however, was far from the truth.  During "routine" checks prior to the commander's launch, Cmdr. Jameson left several messages to his son.  In these messages he explained from beginning to the end, what took place.  In the first and second messages, Cmdr. Jameson stated that he made it through the line and deployed the payload.  He stuck around just long enough to see the payload do it's damage.

In the third message to his son, Cmdr. Jameson expressed absolute remorse in the launching of the payload, as he had sensors aboard that relayed information back to his ship as to what the payload did, and whether it was successful or not.  It was indeed successful, but on a far grander scale than what the commander was informed about.  Not only did the payload disable the Hyperdrives, it killed every Thargoid aboard that hive ship.  Thousands, Millions, the number is yet to be determined, but they all perished when the payload detonated.

In the last entry from Cmdr. Jameson, he explains that his ship had lost power due to a program that had been installed prior to his takeoff.  This was no doubt the "routine" inspection he received on the flight line, and in the end was the cause of the crash of his Cobra Mk. III.  As a last message, the good commander told his son that he realized why the company did this, as they didn't want the secret to get out that this weapon was used, and they had to eliminate their only asset who could verbalize this, thus the termination of Cmdr. Jameson was the logical conclusion.  At the end of the message, the commander told his son that he was proud of him, and that he would do great things, no matter what was said about Cmdr. Jameson, and what type of soldier he was.

After acquiring this information, I now see what INRA was really about, and what bastards they really are.  It absolutely turns my stomach to see that people were used in this manner, and that so many centuries have passed and humanity still repeats its age old mistakes.  I will say this, for the dear commander, May you rest in peace sir.

We are going to depart here, but will leave with a proper send off for a fellow Commander...
