Location: Jameson Memorial
System: Shinrarta Dezhra

It began like any other normal day, docking at the station, when the comms lit up. A message that Obsidian Orbital had been attacked by the Thargoids in the Maia system.

Once again, no known reason for the attack, however it was definite that there would be a rescue operation, and that the rescue ship was already orbiting Obsidian Orbital.

We just got our permit for the Founder's World, and docked at Jameson Memorial when we heard the news. As we have done in the past, we outfitted the Discovery to handle the workload that would be required.

It was so odd, as I was just there no more than two days ago, running missions for Professor Palin, collecting the Thargoid samples in a new Keelback that has been outfitted for just that purpose.

I remember leaving Maia after receiving our permit for Shinrarta Dezhra, and thinking after making the amounts of credits I did, I wouldn't be returning to Maia for quite some time. How little did I know we would return in two days to help get the survivors off of Obsidian Orbital.

When we arrived, Obsidian Orbital was burning. Explosions inside the docking ring, part of the habitat ring missing, and just an absolute mess. Caution lights flashing, alarms sounding, and people scurrying to get on any ship they could to leave.

When we first set down, there had to be over a hundred people standing at the platform, fighting to get on board and be brought to the rescue ship in orbit around Obsidian Orbital.

I bet we probably made about a hundred round trips before the station was empty. When we picked up the last batch of survivors, a large tubular structure fell and struck the Discovery on the upper Promenade deck, bouncing off the glass, while the impact pushed us to the flight deck. All was well, but we didn't anticipate the station to be falling apart this bad.

Once we dropped off the last batch of passengers, we headed home to Jameson Memorial. Yes I know, we used to call Noctilux in Avalon home, but something here just feels like home. Any and all modules you could need, plus a fully stocked ship yard. No more hunting down parts, they are all here.
I have dispatched the ships we had in Ngalia for the community goal here to Jameson Memorial, this way we can pretty much call this home for now.

While we were here, since Jameson Memorial sells everything, I decided to do a little preemptive spring cleaning of our stored modules, with the exception of all the mining modules that we keep in Pan for the U.S.S. Cassini (Type-10 Defender Class).

It has been a long while since I have commanded the Discovery, so I think as the evening closes, I will once again head up to the Promenade deck and enjoy some coffee while I watch the ships come and go.

On a small note, it felt good to help the stranded survivors off of Obsidian Orbital in Maia, and reunite them with their families on board the rescue ship.

I will close for the evening for now... tomorrow is yet another day...
