COMMANDER'S LOG ENTRY: NOVEMBER 26TH, 3305

26 Nov 2019Orion Starhunter
After an extensive stay at Eagle's Landing, we finally headed out early yesterday morning.

It wasn't long before we entered Nyehjaae JM-K b42-12 that the sensors picked up geological activity on a close body in the system.
I plotted an intercept course only to meet up with the closest planet to a Blue White Star that we had just refueled from.

As I took her in and entered Orbital Cruise, the surface temperatures of the planet were reading 400c, which was a lot hotter than I anticipated.
Due to the immense heat conditions the Ethereal Equinox was buffeted by the waves of heat coming from the surface, and it was a rough decent.
Fortunately every system checked out after we dropped from glide.

As we approached the surface, the coloration of the ground was an odd yellow color, and almost reflective.  My wife and first officer pointed to a crater in the distance
and said, "Set her down there".

I adjusted our course to match the destination, and after a few moments we were on the ground.
You could see the heat rising up from the surface as we sat there.  It was damn hot here.

I decided against taking the Scarab out, as I was unsure of how the extreme temperatures would affect it's performance, but the audible sounds the surface made could be heard inside
the ship.  The groaning of the tectonic plates as the immense heat from the Blue White star caused them to expand and grind together.

Only hours after sunset, the surface still glowed a dull red color, which I can only presume is due to the temperatures that were inflicted upon it.
Hours later the surface finally darkened, and temperatures dropped to a negative 600c.  This of course proves that this particular planetary body has no way to retain it's surface temperature.

The gravity here is only 0.13Gs and there is no atmosphere.  Sensors indicate that there is Iron Magma and this planet has an active volcanic system.
Due to the nature in which I set the ship down, we are leaning to the port side at an almost 25 degree angle, however the gravity generators have compensated for this, and we feel as though we are walking upright, without any indication of the ship leaning to one side, per say.

Our destination to Sacaqawea Space Port is still 92 jumps out, and we will head out in the morning.

Other than that, nothing unusual to report.  Cartographic data is filling by the day so we should have a fairly decent nest egg once we dock at Jaques Station.

More later as it happens...
