Out into the Black - Episode 2
07 May 2019DR Platus
Finally made it to the Orion Nebula, but had to figure a way around the locked systems of COL 70. Fortunately that trail had been blazed previously, so finding out how to get there wasn't too difficult. The route I eventually used, took me via the Hind Nebula, Betelgeuse, Rigel and the Spirograph Nebula. It turned out to be quite a nice sightseeing route, and spend some time in the Hind and Spirograph Nebulae before ending up in the Orion Nebula. Unfortunately I could not get any shots, as imaging system was malfunctioning and refused to capture anything. Oh well, will still remember the sites and sounds of that trip.
I did lose millions in carto data in the Spirograph Nebula when I splatted my ship all over a planet, either I approached too fast or the Gs were too high. After claiming my new ship at the 'nearby' Witch Head Science Center, I finally reached the Orion Nebula and docked at the Orion Nebula Tourist Centre.
Not ready to return to the bubble, I head out to Barnard's Loop. I also tried to get the Horsehead Nebula, but that is locked by an unknown permit, so no joy there.
I am now heading to the Rosette Nebula, a mere 4,000LY, give or take. From there, who knows, will see once I arrive, what grabs my fancy, much like now.
Just a note on an exploration build, an A-rated fuel scoop is highly recommended. I have only refueled at the stations because I could. There was never a point where I felt I was going to need the services of the Fuel Rats, so far.
