As it turns out, 80 tons of coffee is the perfect number. Deciding to throw caution to the wind, I switched out to the Python, reduced to 8 limpets for collecting, and started going back and forth with coffee one way, and tons of rare the other in Open Space.In Open, I was vigilant about getting into and out of the station, but noticed a pack of 4 Cmdr-flown FDLs in a Wing hanging outside the station. A pilot on local chat warned about them as I zipped into the station. Once there, while waiting for the other rare commodity to spawn, I realized I could monitor them flying around outside, attempting piracy.
So, in local, I announced what they were doing. I announced when they landed, I announced when they went back outside.
Several pilots thanked me for the warnings. Then the ganking group members started to berate me a bit for spoiling their fun, but I didn't feel guilty.
With no easy pickings outside the station, they eventually left, and I announced that, too. Instantly players started departing. I felt pretty good that I was foiling their attempts, and in such a simple, simple way.
Finally, I had enough of the Rare Commodity to launch, and headed back. I may have to do this again, sometime...
