War, what's it good for

When we boarded the carrier, me, my family and my crew we took it out for some jumps. We figured out we should engineer the mining ships to better do their job. And we also decided to make Ragnarok, the battle corvette better suited for the ongoing wars. What can I say, I hate the engineers. They are a necessary evil, we need them to make the ships better. Why? Because our enemies do the same. It's just a pointless race, a hunt for all those mats and stuff the engineers need. Luckily I'm on the good side with everyone on this side of the galaxy. An the old man, my dad is the diplomat in the family. He usually flies the ships over to the engineers. He likes to sit there and chat with some of the elder guys that have seen som actions in their life.
But the crew and my kids got a lot of experience handling Valhall, our carrier. They parked the FC right on the spot, every time. I just had to call in where I wanted it, and they jumped, right on schedule and everything. I even dropped at the site to see them jump out of hyperspace. It is i mighty sight seeing that carrier enter local space from that portal. But we managed to find all mats-traders and engineers and ended up with two great mining ships and one serious heavy combat fighter.
So i reached out to my brothers in arms, Lee and Alez. And just as expected, they were busy fighting a war. I just had to take Ragnarok out for some runs. I even managed to take on some massacre missions giving some serious pay checks. And the best part is that my better half, my wife joined me on some rounds. She was a bit scared when the shields dropped to the last ring, but one quick double SCB-charge and the shields were back to all blue. I have to send a thank you-note to Lori Jameson, those SCBs really do the job.
But I don't pay that jar-head John R. M. Boo just to sit on his ass. So I sent him out with my fighter crew to do some rounds. But that did not go as planned. I really had to hammer into that thick scull of his that he was supposed to hunt and kill fed-ships in that war. "Sir, I'm here to fight for the feds, sir! I am a Hudson pilot, sir!" Oh-well, I don't know how many times I had to tell him that the feds are enemies in that war. We fight for Hudson, not for federation. In the end, I just said to him "It is a war, war don't make any sense." He joined the war, and did the job. Ruining our reputation with the Federation because we fought for Hudson. Luckily that war ended well, our reps are down with feds, but we won for Hudson. I have explained to my kids why we fight against feds in most wars. I'm not sure if they truly understand, but they have accepted it. Actually I don't understand it either. It is what it is, the reason why we choose the enemies we choose in the wars.
In the end Ragnarok proved fitted and ready for more action, but that has to wait. Because now we are going out there, we are going to leave all known systems. I bought two new ships, a T9 and a Python, both fitted to do just one job. Haul fuel and necessary stuff needed for the carrier. We have over 6000 Tonns of Tritium on board now and are ready to set out on our next great adventure. We have targeted a system not listed in any registers, over 3000 Ly away. And tomorrow they will fire up the engines on Valhalla and jump out to the big black void.
And both the Corvette, Drilling Boomer and Cutter, Drilling Miner are engineered to do the job so much better. And all three explorer ships have been engineered to handle heat better, so now we can scope fuel without the risk of being boiled alive. I'm really excited about this trip, so many new thingts to test out. Be out there in the rings, with my family, my crew. I can sit in the kantina having a meal with others every day. My entire family is eager to try out the new builds on the ships, so I might not have to do all the work this time. And if we are lucky we find another glory spot. But that adventure have to wait until tomorrow, now it is bed time.
