Back into the black

It's peaceful, out here in the black.Just me, Devil's Daydream and the stars.
Got sick of the grind, again. Tired of dealing with humans, with their little mind games and hidden agendas. When it gets to the point that I won't leave the ship at all, because I just don't want to be around people, full stop...that's when I know it's time to go.
I was mucking around with the Galaxy map, when I spotted something in the star-class filter called a 'Wolf-Rayet' star. I had absolutely no idea what one of those was. So I looked it up, and thought, this I have to see. Eleven jumps away now; got distracted mapping stuff. Don't know why...but hey, 'once an explorer, always an explorer', as the saying goes.
Gods below, I hate people. Maybe I'm turning into a misanthrope. But I don't hate all people.
Ali. TripleRazor. GoateeH. Rose. (AKA Nuignep Tep. What a daft alias. And I told her so. She just smiled). Rose! I have a mother! Okay, one who was in cryosleep for about as long as I've been alive, but even so, it's a big thing. She said it seemed only fair I know her real name, especially as she knows mine. Only her first name though...She's a good laugh, but scary too. I can see the anger burning away inside her. Same anger I have in me?
I wish I could speak to Ali. She can always talk me round when I'm wound up or on a downer. Have a few drinks, natter and swap whatever off-colour jokes we've heard lately. But I can't even message her! Bollocks to it all!
Mmm. This is good wine. A smooth Merlot I found at Angus Manwaring, Eta Cassiopeia. Go on. Tell me I shouldn't be drinking whilst flying a starship. My argument: no-one else out here, so fuck it. Besides, I'm not drinking the wine, I'm savouring it. Hahaha!
Ahhh dammit. Have to drop out of supercruise for a couple of minutes. Why did no-one at RemLok think about what happens when you get an itch at twice the speed of light?!?
Got distracted again. Tasty little system to map. Someone's already got the first planet, but that's how it goes.
Six jumps left. This star better be worth it. The wine flask is empty. Time to find a world with some kind of gravity. Ever tried pouring wine in zero-g?
*sigh*
