Well I finally achieved a goal that I set for myself sometime ago. To make the 6,784,346 LS two hour trek to Hutton Orbital. After three failed attempts and a little persuasion, it is done. My good friend CMDR Dan Louks talked me into it. I'm glad he did. I heard about the prized coffee cup but he was after something else. The coveted Centauri Mega Gin. That alone was worth the trip. After we got there and settled in my bunk I cracked open the bottle. Let me put it this way. It was so strong I got a buzz from the fumes! A cap full was enough, I was drunk BEFORE it hit my gut. This will be a special occasion sipper only. The Hutton Coffee cup turned out to be pretty special in its own right. The handle is inlaid with laser etched with the system name, inside of the handle was also inlaid with the arrival point distance in gold. The face of the cup had the Federation seal but when you tilted the cup and light hit it at different angles the seal was replaced with the Hutton Orbital Hologram. The bottom was laser etched with the system itself with the planets and star names. At the time I didn't notice with the red and amber colors of the star by the orbital is that the entire cup has hologram flakes embedded in the clear coat. Quite a fancy cup. And with a detachable spill proof cap, a true pilot's coffee cup is complete.
It was a fun time especially with a wing mate to not only pass the time but to keep each other awake. When I was chatting with Dan about permits, Hutton came up, and the idea was born. I was reluctant to go at 1st. But after consideration, and we might not be able to get another chance, "Let's do this!" What I didn't know at the time, he shares my fascination with 20th and 21st century aircraft. From the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds demonstration wing, to the C-130 transport. Time went by fast talking about those remarkable aircraft and opening the door for what we have a thousand+ years later. I guess you could say it's a spiritual connection to my ancestors. All in all, even though the journey was a long one, it was well worth it. And all the more looking forward to what the galaxy has in store.
