Shadows of Victory

26 Jun 2018Apothys Rah
The fighting for Jormor had been fierce, the ruling faction had put up one hell of a fight, there was a lot at stake here, the organisation The Shadows of Victory had gained new leadership under the self styled Pharaoh and Pirate Queen Amunet, her orders were swift and decisive, this one was clever I thought, she knew how to fight on a large scale, something i'd not seen outside of a Federal or Empire military campaigns.

This Queen demanded but one thing, convert or die, its a simple choice and you'd be surprised by how many of the people choose to kneel before the Queen of The Shadows of Victory.  After all, once you've seen her Elite Guard slaughter those who defied the order with those damn energy weapons, if you aint instantly dropping to the ground to convert, your a hell of a lot braver than I.

They chained us... and they made us fight others to a cheering crowd, they called it the Blood Pit. Not seen anything like it before, you had but one goal, prove you were worthy or be sent to some prison mine. Well a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do... be damned if some scrawny Jormor citizen gonna beat me down. You can imagine the rest...

We were assigned ships to fight in after showing our worth in the Blood Pits, and thats when things got really interesting, we got to lead attack after attack and gained recognition of our efforts against the Jormor Defense forces. We got to keep anything we could find too, as long as we paid a tithe to the Pirate Queen.

After the brutal subjugation of Jormor, my wing and I  were summoned before the Pirate Queen Amunet.  I have to admit it felt good to be recognised, I was promoted to the Necromonger elite guard, alongside my fellow commanders and assigned a new task, we were no longer fresh converts.  We were to start a war in Gwydans, a system it seems that our Queen had taken an interest in. While we have no controlling interest in that system her intent was obvious to the trained eye and i smiled with approval.

"Obedience without Question" we uttered in unison and left the halls of our Queen.  Outside the throne room we were fitted with obsidian coloured armour and given energy weapons. I marvelled at the fearsome and elegant design of the armor.  Donning the helm I was surprised at the holographic inlay that flared up, giving me enhanced optics and an integrated flight display for use on our vessels.

As we strode to the docking bays my visor began picking out the people of Cardano dock, the converts who had yet to be given a role within this new organisation and upon our approach they knelt in fear and awe.

Turning to the other commanders I nodded and spoke, the helm amplifying my words artificially to sinister proportions  "Now... lets make Gwydans burn...
