Entry 3. Jeffery

“So how does this work? I can’t just swap my ship’s codes to you for credits and disappear. You know they will track it, blow it up, put a bounty out on me and I’ll be dead before I even make it to Dalton Gateway.” Jeffery looked me in the eyes, cracked that halfcocked grin and chuckled, “How long have you been flying that ship boy? Six years right? You think I am going to take her off your hands? Hell no. I couldn’t even scrape it without getting caught and arrested!”
“What do you mean? I thought you were going to help me get out from under this freaking company and out of the mess so that I can truly be free to go where I please.” At this point I was a little relieved that Shadow wouldn’t end up sitting in some hold rotting away, but I was beginning to wonder if I had wasted my credits, and time on this worm.
“That I can help you with. There is no doubt about that. I have a way that you can get out AND keep your ship. That is what you are paying me for.”
I was jumping flips inside, it had been a long time since I had felt this way. Me and Shadow would could prowl the stars together! Never having to answer to anyone except my own whims.
“It’s not easy,” he stated with not near the enthusiasm that I was having at the moment, “but it can be done and I will tell you how to do it, and give you the necessary materials to do so. It isn’t cheap and it “sometimes” works.”
My heart sank, but only for a second. My spirits lifted, my account was five hundred thousand lighter. Although in all honesty it was my account that was lighter, it was my employer’s account, I considered it all the hazard pay that I should have gotten.
“How?” was all I could muster to come out after making the transfer.
